Cheetahs in Maryland?
YES!

During the Pliocene and Pleistocene, the American “Cheetah” hunted throughout North America. Fossil remains have been found close to home in Pennsylvania and Maryland.  It is estimated these creatures went extinct about 10,000 years ago. As part of Nature Connections celebration of National Fossil Day, Paleontologist J.P. Hodnett from the Maryland Dinosaur Park will share what he and other scientists have discovered about these amazing animals. Casts of the cat will be on display.

The program is free and open to all. We do ask that you RSVP to help with planning.
