You are invited to “Be a Patron”
NHSM joins more than 2,100 museum stores, across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 25 countries, and five continents, participating in Museum Store Sunday. The museum will be open. Come explore, exercise your curiosity muscle, then pick up some great gifts that can be found nowhere else. Seriously.
To make the event even more memorable, NHSM has invited some special guests to join for the day.
- Nancy Lawson, the Humane Gardener and friend to NHSM, will be on hand to read from her new book, Wildscape. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
- Barbara Saffir, an award-winning wildlife photographer, author of Walking Washington, DC, founder of the “Nature Photography DC/MD/VA” Meetup group, and a certified Virginia Master Naturalist from Fairfax, VA, will be on hand selling photographs and sustainable shopping bags featuring some of her prints.
- More TBA
On Museum Store Sunday, shoppers will not only find quality gifts filled with inspiration and educational value, but through their purchases will also directly support NHSM as proceeds at museum stores directly support the educational missions and programs of the parent institution. Don’t miss the opportunity to support The Mammoth Project by purchasing some Mammoth Merch. Like the Woolly Mammoths, they won’t be around forever.
Admission to the museum is free. Free 300-million-year-old fossils with purchase. Please help us plan by RSVPing.
While there is only one Museum Store Sunday each year, we encourage everyone to “Be a Patron” of museums and museum stores all year round. You are a patron by:
- simply taking your family to a museum in your hometown or while traveling;
- shopping for memorable gifts for birthdays, life events, or other celebrations;
- becoming a member at your favorite museum(s);
- enrolling in classes or volunteering at museums and cultural institutions;
- supporting a museum or cultural institution that serves the public. However you choose to “Be a Patron,” all museums thank you!
