Get ready to have a rockin’ good time. Take a walk with a geologist to see the city through an entirely new lens. On this 1.25-mile walk through part of downtown Baltimore, view structures built with igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock formed roughly 3.8 billion years ago in Earth’s history and erected during the last 200 years of American history. Who knew you could see ancient fossils, touch a stone almost as old as the Earth, and get a feel for Italy all in downtown Baltimore?
Our trip leader Sam Glasscock holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Science and a Master’s in Marine Science. He currently works as an environmental scientist.
The tour should take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. Bring a magnifying glass or a hand lens. Some will be available for sharing.
