Fossil Club Members (old and new!), please join us to explore this once a coral reef. It teamed with trilobites, bivalves, gastropods, brachiopods, cephalopods, corals, sponges, spirifers, crinoids, bryozoans, and some plant life.
If you would like to join NHSM and the Fossil Club, please do so by following this link: https://www.marylandnature.org/get-involved/membership/

Club members will need to meet at 8:30am in the parking lot of The Ranch House Restaurant. (We are not planning on having breakfast there, so please be on time and plan your breakfast accordingly).
From the Ranch House Restaurant, we will drive to the 7 Stars Fossil Location. We will be able to park right in front of the quarry along the roadside. It is a privately owned Central PA Devonian Quarry from the Mahantango Formation, which we have permission to explore!
All club members will need to wear weather appropriate clothes/gear (gloves, sturdy shoes/boots, protective eyewear etc) and pack a lunch/drinks/snacks. Make sure to take all trash with you when we leave. Please bring only “manual” rockhounding tools. No mechanized, gas powered, battery operated saws, drills etc will be permitted. Weather and time permitting, there is a second Devonian location nearby that we may be able visit!
If you have any questions, please email Vanessa at vlubiner@marylandnature.org, or Nick, who will be leading this trip, at sperospc@verizon.net.
