Herp Club Meeting: NeighborSpace and the Vernal Pools Project

 , , ,

Open to the Public

Join Herp Club member Kathy Martin for an overview and discussion of a new planned partnership between NHSM’s Herp Club and NeighborSpace, a Baltimore County non-profit that works to protect and improve land for parks, gardens, trails, and natural areas within the densely populated Urban Rural Demarcation Line (URDL).

Last year the US Supreme Court eliminated federal oversight for millions of acres of wetlands, leaving it up to individual states to protect these important habitats. In this presentation, Kathy will describe how NeighborSpace and the NHSM Herp Club can work together to gather data on existing vernal pools, an important step towards supporting Maryland’s biodiversity. Dates and locations of field events on NeighborSpace properties will be shared with attendees.

This meeting of the NHSM Herp Club will take place online only. You will receive the Zoom link and passcode via email with your registration confirmation. Please contact the club coordinator (mfalk@marylandnature.org) with any questions.

Are you fascinated by reptiles and amphibians? The Natural History Society of Maryland’s Herp Club promotes the proper husbandry, conservation, study, and appreciation of reptiles and amphibians. Amateurs, professionals, and kids of all ages are welcome. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month and are open to the public.

Membership to NHSM is required to join any of our clubs. NHSM membership is $35 for individuals, $50 for families; Herp Club membership is an additional $5 for individuals and $10 for families annually.https://www.marylandnature.org/club-membership/
