The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Department of Art as Applied to Medicine is a leader in the field of visual communication for science and health care. Built on a strong foundation of scientific knowledge, artistic technique, and clear visual communication, the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine has maintained the highest standards while embracing new medical, scientific, and communication technologies. The Department is dedicated to providing the educational competencies and motivation necessary for graduates to attain the highest standards as professional medical illustrators and through two-year, accredited, Medical and Biological Illustration (MBI) Master of Arts program.
Join us for a conversation with representatives of the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at Johns Hopkins for a discussion of the current graduate training of medical and biological illustrators and through the past 112 years. Tim Phelps, professor and medical illustrator, and a number of current students are excited to have a question and answer session and show and tell with examples of their current artwork.
