Last year, the Natural History Society of Maryland in partnership with the Maryland Entomological Society hosted the premier screening of this award-winning documentary at the museum in Overlea. The response was overwhelming. It was standing room only. While we can’t gather together in person, we can come together virtually. Grab your popcorn and beverage of choice. Find a comfortable place. Invite your friends, and share in this magical story of love. The showing will be followed by a behind the scenes tour of some of NHSM’s entomology collections led by curator Jim Young. NOTE Free to NHSM Members.
Over the course of 60 years, entomologists Charlie and Lois O’Brien amassed a collection of more than 1 million insects from nearly 70 countries —the largest private collection in the word valued at $10 million. The Love Bugs is a light-hearted, poignant portrait of two aging but dedicated scientists that captures the tender moments, inside jokes and good-natured bickering that can only come from sharing a marriage and career for 55 years.
